Andrew James, Ward 29 City Council candidate

2010 update:  This post dates to 2006.  Andrew James, current President of the Toronto-Danforth Green Party of Ontario riding association, is running for Toronto City Council in Ward 30.

Andrew James is running for City Council in Ward 29 (the top half of our Toronto-Danforth riding), and looking for help from environmentally-minded residents…

Andrew James, B.A., LL.B., is a legal writer who resides in the Danforth area of Toronto. He was called to the British Columbia bar in 1985, and has lived in the Toronto area for the last 20 years. His books include:

  • Ontario Municipal Act: A User’s Manual, with former Toronto City Solicitor George Rust-D’Eye (of Weir Foulds) and Ophir Bar-Moshe (published by Carswell)
  • Ontario Safe Water Legislation and Commentary, with Ophir Bar-Moshe (published by Lexis-Nexis)
  • Ontario Condominium Act: A User’s Manual, with Audrey Loeb of Miller Thomson, (published by Carswell)

Andrew has been active in environmentally-oriented causes for the last decade, including:

  • Independent candidate in the 1997 federal election
  • Policy consultant for David Orchard’s P.C. leadership campaign and anti-MAI campaign
  • Communications consultant for Adrian Visentin’s campaign in the 2000 federal election
  • Member of the Toronto Environment Alliance

He has also been an active board member of numerous community organizations, including the Junction Community Information Centre in Toronto and the Women’s Centre of York Region.
