Voting day in Toronto-Danforth will be Monday, 2012 March 19. Of course there will be advance polls and other alternatives available before then.

Project Neutral in Withrow Park

Withrow Park, in Riverdale

Project Neutral is a competition between two Toronto neighborhoods, Riverdale and the Junction, to transition to carbon neutrality.

They are hosting an event in Withrow Park this Sunday. Adriana Mugnatto-Hamu and Tim Whalley will both attend.

Tim Whalley — bio and priorities

Tim Whalley has been chosen by the local riding association to represent the Green Party of Ontario in the 2011 provincial elections. Voting day is October 6.

Tim is the executive director of Scarborough Arts and actively works with a broad range of organizations, stakeholders and residents to enrich the community and make it more liveable. He holds a Masters in Museum Studies from the University of Toronto, and has taught at the university level and served on a number of boards of directors. Tim lives in the Greenwood / Gerrard neighbourhood with his teacher wife and their infant child. He is a member of local organizations such as the Toronto Environmental Alliance and Toronto Cyclists Union

A letter from George Monbiot published in the Globe and Mail in response to Margaret Wente’s “Hard Questions for Elizabeth May“:

Margaret Wente suggests I said that environmentalists “don’t understand the science and they don’t understand the economics” (Hard Questions For Ms. May – May 10). I’ve said nothing of the kind.

Part of what moved Adriana to the Green Party was an NDP canvasser who came to our door and told us that the NDP was greener than the Green Party. Seemed like a bold assertion, and some simple research proved it to be false.

Elizabeth May should have been heard

With the leaders debates now over, one result is clear: Elizabeth May, as leader of the Green Party, should have been a debater.

Why? Not just to include a woman among all the men, although, as a former human-rights commissioner, I find that an acceptable reason. It’s just not the only reason, because there are at least three others that made her exclusion a national injustice.
