Thank you for the opportunity to be a choice for nomination as your candidate in the coming federal election. I’m very excited about the possibility of working with you to run our strongest campaign yet, bring down a terribly destructive government and head to Ottawa to help get our nation back on track.
I live in Toronto-Danforth and am a fundraising and communications professional that has worked mostly with educational and health organizations. I have been involved with the Green Party for 13 years, including 5 years as the Communications Chair for Trinity-Spadina (when I created the logo you see here). I’ve worked on a number of campaigns and was Campaign Manager in the ’06 and ’08 federal campaigns for Trinity-Spadina — see photo with Elizabeth from 2007.
Between the ’06 and ’08 elections, I was able to help our EDA recruit a many new members and volunteers and build an active executive, which had previously not existed. Together we were able to nearly triple our vote percentage to 9%, improve our fundraising by 10X and give Olivia Chow a run for her money at debates. We even scored air time on CBC evening news. The campaign was and all around success and gave me the experience that we need to win a seat here in Toronto-Danforth.
This coming election will be more of that. I give lots of credit to the Toronto-Danforth team and all they have accomplished to date in laying the foundations for an engaged group of volunteers. Now it is time for all of us, together, to bring our campaigning to the next level.
I have already convinced some technical and fundraising experts to help us increase our resources for the coming campaign. With you I will put together a team that will build our profile before the election and hit the ground running on day one of the election to put up a good fight against Craig Scott and the NDP’s support of the Energy East pipeline and weak opposition to Harper’s misguided leadership. I will put in a place the will give us the funds and expertise for strong air game, and attract many more energetic volunteers to help us knock on doors until we’re green in the face.
With the Liberals in a much stronger position this time around and the NDP slipping, we have a great chance of convincing the intelligent voters in Toronto-Danforth that Elizabeth May and the Greens have been the true party of conscience and ideas the past few years…and that they have the power to give the Greens the balance of power in what looks like it will be a minority parliament. It requires professional communication, strong fundraising, discipline and tight messaging – all of which I do every day in my work and did in past Green campaigns. With your support we can multiply our 5-6% tallies from recent elections into a Green wave, I have no doubt about it.
Please come out the AGM/Nomination meeting so I can tell you more about my experience running campaigns, how we can better represent Toronto-Danforth and so I can hear your thoughts and ideas on campaigns past and future and how we can work together for a better Canada. Come out and vote for the candidate of your choice. In the meantime, have a look at my resume: www.RyanLindsay.ca.
Thank you, Ryan Lindsay
