Ontario provincial political contributions receive generous tax credits — whether or not you pay provincial taxes.

Donation – Tax Credit = Your Cost
$2,821 – $1,240 = $1,581
$1,948 – $949 = $999
$1,240 – $713 = $527
$1,000 – $593 = $407
$800 – $493 = $307
$600 – $393 = $207
$400 – $293 = $107
$200 – $150 = $50
$100 – $75 = $25
$40 – $30 = $10

Green Party of Canada — local riding association

To donate to the local federal riding association, supporting Maryem Tollar‘s campaign:

  • INTERAC e-transfers to votemaryem@gmail.com will be deposited directly to the campaign account. This approach is easiest and fastest for the campaign.
  • Paper cheques, payable to “Igabaran Eilamurugan, Official Agent” can be mailed to 200 Jones Ave / Toronto, ON M4M 3A3.
  • Online credit-card donations through the central Green Party of Canada website, directed to the local Toronto-Danforth EDA, which will be in turn transferred to the campaign, can be made here.
  • Or call 772-444-2684.

In all cases, tax receipts will be issued by the Green Party of Canada at the end of the year. If you pay federal taxes, you’ll get money back when you donate.

For the first $400 you donate in any year, you’ll get three quarters of it back at tax time. So that means you can give $400 now and use the tax receipt we provide to get $300 back. That means it only costs $100 to give the Green Party a $400 push.

It’s easy to spend $25 at restaurant or at the movies. A $100 donation now will only cost $25 once you get $75 back on your taxes.

Donation – Tax Credit = Your Cost
$1,600 – $650 = $950
$1,200 – $625 = $575
$1,000 – $558 = $442
$750 – $475 = $275
$600 – $400 = $200
$400 – $300 = $100
$200 – $150 = $50
$100 – $75 = $25
$40 – $30 = $10

This table applies per person per year. So your partner can make a matching $400 donation to receive a matching $300 credit, and you both can donate again in the new year.

(Note that after the first $400, the additional tax credit on the next $350 is one half. After the first $750, the additional tax credit is one third up to a yearly maximum tax credit of $650. You must be a permanent resident of Canada to donate. The maximum donation to local federal EDAs and candidates is $1,600 per year, to which you can add another $1,600 in donations to national federal parties.)
