2008 Sep 19: Green Party of Canada convention postponed due to election
The convention has been canceled, and will be rescheduled. During an election, a convention in Elizabeth May’s riding would count as a campaign event, and its cost would exceed the whole of the budget allowed by Elections Canada for a campaign.
Update: Both the location and the date of the convention has changed to accommodate the upcoming by-elections on September 8. The convention will now be held in Pictou, Nova Scotia on September 19-21. Please join us.
All members are invited to attend the Green Party of Canada convention in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. This 3 day event is an excellent opportunity to meet fellow Green Party supporters from across Canada, vote on policy proposals (must be a member by May 31st to vote on policy) and learn more about how the Green Party plans to win seats in the next general election.
There will be a train traveling across Canada picking up attendees along the way. Details are yet to be finalized but cost will be under $200 per person for train travel. Cost to attend the convention is $199 per person ($99 for unwaged members).
Next issue will feature more information on the convention, but there are only 400 spaces available so reserve your space to avoid disappointment.
As an added incentive, we will pay convention registration fees for donors who give $200 to the Toronto-Danforth Federal Green Party Association this year, and registration, transportation and accommodation for donors who give more than $1000. Remember that up to 75% of your donation is returned at tax time.
