Smart Economy flyer, 2011
Here’s the flyer for Smart Economy. If you click on the image you can view the PDF.
Here’s the text of the flyer:
The economy is a wholly owned subsidiary of the environment.
Gaylord Nelson
The future is Green.
Our economy is wasteful, polluting and decadent, and relies on energy that’s getting dirtier, more expensive and more dangerous. The push for more is giving us less.
We can live within our means in an efficient, health-sustaining economy powered by natural processes used at a sustainable rate. Canadians need jobs with a future in growing economic sectors like green energy, public transit and retrofits.
The future economy is local. We support small local businesses on safe, accessible streets.
We are urged to spend money we don’t have, on things we don’t need, to make impressions that don’t last on people we don’t care about.
Tim Jackson
Making a living shouldn’t get in the way of having a life.
Canadians need job security, safety, good health, good education and time to enjoy their lives. We need an economy that improves our lives, and a better way of measuring progress than just how much money we spend.
- a price on pollution in a tax shift that doesn’t raise taxes overall
- investment in green jobs C better employment and education opportunities for youth
- shorter work week and more work flexibility
- a Genuine Progress Indicator instead of GDP to measure progress
Adriana is the ideal representative for me to the Federal Parliament. Her passion for social and environmental justice is empowered by her capacities to listen, assess, and create consensus solutions. She will be the voice for us who share deep concerns for the vulnerable and the future of our planet.
Greg Allen, P.Eng, Sustainable strategist and winner of Green Toronto award
Adriana offers thoughtful, practical, and sustainable solutions that will enrich our communities, our cities, and our country.
She has the knowledge and experience to lead Canada toward the new, green economy.
