Welcome to 2008.  Hope everyone has a healthful and joyous year.  I hope to see some political greening in whatever form and anywhere and everywhere in the world.  The world desperately needs it.

Happy, happy Christmas to everyone who celebrates.  Happy holidays to those who don’t.  That’s an order.

We’re in the midst of the Hanukkah season.  We’ll be celebrating the one night tomorrow, after I get back from the climate change rally.  Hope everyone is having a wonderful time.

The Toronto-Danforth Federal Green Party Association will be holding an Annual General Meeting on Monday, December 10, 2007.  We will have a holiday-themed potluck.  We’ll be right in the middle of Hannukah, just a couple of weeks before Christmas, and happy to celebrate a belated Divali or a premature Chinese New Year or Groundhog Day.  Everyone is welcome, please bring your friends.

Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers out there.

I’ve just returned from watching “Away From Her”. My husband Charlie had arranged for the whole family to go and watch a special screening which was followed by a question-and-answer session with Sarah Polley and Michael Ondaatje.

I had read about the movie before and knew all the plot lines. I almost always cry at movies, but usually only at the climax. This movie had me in tears from a point about 1/3 of the way in, in part because I knew what was coming. I recommend this movie. It’s sensitive and real and Canadian.

And now, my daughter has arranged a special dinner. It’s so wonderful to have a day to be pampered. Hope all you mothers are enjoying yours.
