2006 Nov 21: 2006 Annual General Meeting

I’m about to start mailing announcements for the Annual General Meeting of our Toronto-Danforth Electoral District Association, but for anybody who’s reading this, please mark your calendar now.

Green Party of Canada Toronto-Danforth Electoral District Association Annual General Meeting.
Tuesday, 2006 November 21 at 7pm.
Frankland Community Centre, 816 Logan Ave

(just south of Danforth) Free.

As of November 21, I’m officially out of a job.  The entire executive will quit en masse and every job is up for grabs.  I highly recommend an executive position in the EDA.  It’s very rewarding, though the pay sucks.  We’ll need to fill the following positions:

  • Chief Executive Officer
  • Financial Agent
  • Fundraising Chair
  • Membership Chair
  • Organizing Chair
  • Communications Chair

After our election, we’ll proceed to some local eatery, where you’ll be able to prod the executive with your suggestions for what they should do in the coming year.

2006 Oct 22: Building a provincial Green Party riding association — workshop

We don’t have a provincial Green Party presence in Toronto-Danforth, and it’s time to build one. This is a workshop presented by U of T Alumni Greens and featuring Shane Jolley, who got 15% of the popular vote for the Greens in Grey-Bruce-Owen Sound in the 2006 federal election. It is aimed at building Constituent Assemblies in the GTA, where CAs will have to work together to build a Green presence city-wide.

CA-building Workshop.
Sunday, 2006 October 22, 2pm to 5pm.
Bahen Centre, room 2139,
40 St George St (University of Toronto). Free.

This is a 3-hour workshop, which will be followed by a walk to Kensington Market or Chinatown to enjoy some food together. I would really love to see some people out there from Toronto-Danforth, as we desperately need a Green presence here on the provincial side. Contact Mark Francis at mfrancn228@rogers.com if you’d like to participate.

A green paperclip event.

Jim Harris and Green Party of Canada blogs

If you’re interested in starting a blog, but don’t know how to start, the Green Party of Canada has just made it a little easier.  They have a new blogging resource for members at:

http://greenparty.ca/blog

Jim HarrisJim Harris, former GPC leader and one of our Toronto-Danforth members, just wrote to me earlier today (well, actually yesterday now, as the site was down so long it’s now the morning after) to announce the appearance of his blog there, which you can see at:

http://www.greenparty.ca/en/blog/358

Count on Jim to write well. I think his blog should be one to watch for, and I’ve linked our EDA blog to his.

I’ve looked the blog area of the GPC site over and there is room for improvement.  For one thing, there’s no link from the main site.  For another the “new members” listing isn’t a link, and it should be.  But it’s a start and will surely improve.  I’m looking forward to watching it grow.

2006 Sep 22: GPO 2006 AGM
