Thank you for all the great support you have given for the off-grid pop-up office. It’s created a lot of buzz around the riding and we have some media that has confirmed (although anything could change last minute!).

On another note: I’m so sorry to be getting this message out last minute. I’ve been swamped with events and prepping for the office launch.

Applegrove is holding an all candidates event tonight. If you are available it would be great to have some supporters out there cheering on the Green Message.

Canada’s first off-grid, solar powered, urban shipping container-chic Campaign Pop-up Office

Chris Tolley, Green Party candidate for Toronto-Danforth, launches the first ever off-grid, solar powered campaign pop-up office. Join us:

Wednesday, 2015 October 7, 1:30pm
899 Queen St E (south side of Queen, just east of Logan)

This office, fashioned out of a shipping container, is located on Queen Street East in trendy Leslieville. Campaign staff plan and coordinate Tolley’s campaign from this location.

“My opponents are running multi-story, huge offices with lights blazing. We want to show that you can do things differently. By repurposing a shipping container and adding solar power, we are proving, that with a bit of imagination, you can think outside of the box while working inside of it,” says Tolley.

The launch will include a ‘turning on the switch’ moment where the solar panels come alive and power the space, as well as a short talk from the candidate, Chris Tolley.     Read more »

All registered candidates have been invited to participate — confirmed candidates to date are:

• Elizabeth Abbot, Animal Alliance Environment Voters Party.
• Julie Dabrusin, Liberal Party.
• Craig Scott, New Democratic Party.
• Chris Tolley, Green Party.

Tim Dutaud, the Conservative ex-candidate, dropped out shortly after people figured out who he was. The important take-away here is this: If you are concerned about stopping Harper, there has never been a danger in this riding of electing a Conservative.

This continues a long tradition of the Conservative candidate being a non-issue in Toronto-Danforth. Katarina von Koenig, for example, remained a woman of mystery throughout the 2011 election. Andrew Keyes, to his credit, took being a candidate seriously in 2012, at least until Conservative HQ apparently told him to stop participating in debates.
