2007 Dec 21: Kensington Festival of Lights 2007

Sorry for the late notice, but tonight is the longest night of the year.  And as every year on the winter solstice, Kensington market comes alive with an interactive, commercial free celebration where the night is lit up with candles, lanterns and a raging bonfire to end it off.

Kensington Festival of Lights
Friday, 2007 December 21, 6 pm sharp
corner of Augusta and Oxford
in Kensington Market
416 598-3729 — redpepper.spectacle@sympatico.ca

Unite to ignite the longest, darkest night

Joina cavalcade of costumed characters, giant puppets, stiltwalkers and firebreathers in a luminescent lantern-lit carnival parade in Toronto’s legendary Kensington Market.  Journey through narrow streets, encounter surprise theatrics on rooftops and in storefronts — revel in a fiery solstice send-off at Bellevue Square Park.

Bang a drum or a pot or pan, ring a bell, sing a song, carry a lantern, wear a costume …this is a participatory event!

Come celebrate the return of light!  Handmade and commercial-free since 1988.

2007 Oct 3: Priorities for Ontario

The Priorities for Ontario Coalition is comprised of thirteen leading environmental groups in Ontario, including the Sierra Club of Canada (Ontario), Greenpeace and the Pembina Institute.  It advocates for policy changes in six policy areas loosely related to the environment.  Their site charts the parties stand in meeting its objectives in all six of the policy areas identified.  It should be no surprise that the Green Party looks very good from this perspective.

Please come to the debate sponsored by the Priorities for Ontario Coalition.  Victoria Serda will be representing the Green Party of Ontario.

2006 Oct 23: Biogas talk at City Hall

This is a Coalition for a Green Economy event.  Coalition events are always at City Hall, and in my experience involve kindly people calmly introducing bright ideas for a better future, followed by crossing the street and getting all tipsy and giggly at a pub.
