Giant peace sign

We’re coming up on the four-year anniversary of the invasion of Iraq.  There will be a Canada-wide day of action on March 17.  In Toronto, there will be rally, a march, another rally, and a giant peace symbol made out of people.

2007 Feb 21: An inconvenient vigil

Actually, it’s a perfectly convenient vigil: just one hour, relatively warm weather, good people.

Show your support for Al Gore’s message. You might head over to Green Drinks after, but first join this vigil organized by the East Toronto Climate Action Group:

An Inconvenient Truth — Candlelight Vigil
Wednesday, 2007 February 21, 6 pm
outside Convocation Hall, King’s College Circle
University of Toronto

“This is not a political issue; it is a moral issue”
— Al Gore

On Wednesday February 21st, Toronto citizens will unite in a peaceful display of solidarity in response to Al Gore’s message delivered in An Inconvenient Truth.

Al Gore is scheduled to speak at 7:00 pm in Convocation Hall. As 900 tickets sold in 1 minute, and the website crashed due to more than 20,000 hits in 3 minutes, it is apparent that many in Toronto are in agreement that we are suffering climate change.

Please show your support for his crucial message by attending an hour long candlelight vigil to symbolize your willingness to become carbon neutral and recognize your ecological footprint.

Meet in front of Convocation Hall from 6 pm — north of College & west of University Ave. Walk through the main gates of the U of T campus and you will find King’s College Circle. Convocation Hall is on the left and we will stand outside. Carry a small light which we will turn off at 7:00 pm when Al Gore begins his lecture inside the Hall.

Families are encouraged to attend.
